To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: a man had two sons. The younger son asked for his inheritance, left home, and wasted his money in wild living.
When he finally came to his senses, he returned home. While he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming, ran to him, embraced him, and kissed him.
The father said they had to celebrate, because this son was dead and had come back to life. He was lost, but now he is found.
